Forensic Engineering

Dr. Russell is the Denver, Colorado based founder of Paladin Consulting Solutions LLC. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical engineering. He is a professional engineer and is registered in 23 states.

As a mechanical engineer, his work in forensic engineering is focused on the analysis and modeling mechanical aspects of complex phenomena and systems. His work has included investigation of industrial fatalities, personal injuries, and property damage incidents with losses up to $100,000,000. Further, he has developed and taught improved methods for forensic engineering investigations and report writing.

Prior to founding Paladin, he was the president and chief engineer at Engineering Design & Testing Corp. It was during his time and ED&T that he was the lead author on a peer-reviewed journal article that served to document what is known as the Russell-Jur method for determination of cause. This method, having appeared in the peer-reviewed Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention, documents how to determine the cause of a failure… and explain the result to a non-technical audience. Further, he developed a reliable process for forensic-engineering report writing that he taught to the engineers of ED&T.

He has presented at numerous engineering, insurance, and legal conferences on various aspects of forensic engineering including the Russell-Jur Method. Has also presented webinars on, “How to Ask for and Get What You Need From a Forensic Engineer” and “What Should be In a Forensic Engineering Report.”
